R. W. (Charlie) Turner

As a business development and licensing professional in big pharma, consulting, and specialty pharma companies, Charlie has played a key leadership role in over 20 biopharmaceutical transactions, with cumulative value exceeding $1 billion. His responsibilities have included leading the negotiations, both internally and externally, through deal closure. He has also led other aspects of the transaction process including: financial analyses & valuations, developing deal structures and internal proposals and coordinating due diligence. His diverse deal experience includes in-licensing, out-licensing, acquisitions, divestitures, co-development, co-promotion, technology assessment, manufacturing and supply agreements.
Before founding Tri-Bio Ventures, he was VP of Business Development at POZEN for eight years, where he had key leadership roles in a variety of deals with several companies including GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Nycomed, Xcel Pharmaceuticals, and Lek Pharmaceuticals. Prior to POZEN, he held Business Development and Licensing positions at Pappas Ventures, Novartis Consumer Health and Glaxo Wellcome. Before beginning his Business Development career at Glaxo Wellcome in 1996, he worked for seven years in senior Finance roles at Lilly and Glaxo, and practiced public accounting for two years with Ernst & Young. Charlie earned a BS degree in Accounting from the Marriott School of Magagement at Brigham Young University and an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is a licensed CPA and a Certified Licensing Professionalâ„¢ (CLP).
